Where can I get the SmarTest Calprotectin Home app?
Download from Google Play or Apple App Store
Which devices are supported?
Many devices are supported and you can find a list here https://biohithealthcare.co.uk/biohit-product/smartest-calprotectin-home/
How often do I need to perform the camera test?
Only once, or if you reinstall the app, or transfer to a new device.
What happens if the SmarTest Calprotectin Home app isn't compatible with my device?
You will not be able to use the SmarTest Calprotectin test unless you have a compatible device. If your device is not compatible, the App displays a message. Some devices can self-calibrate (Android only).
What happens if I forget my PIN?
If no biometric authentication is enabled (e.g. such as Face ID) then access is lost. You can reinstall the app or reset the data of the app in the system settings of the device. If you have set up your mySmarTest account the results history can be restored.
Where should I store my SmarTest Calprotectin Home test? Does it need to be kept in the fridge?
Store your SmarTest Calprotectin Home test at room temperature out of the reach of children.
My stool sample has come into contact with toilet water or urine, what should I do?
You will need to produce another, fresh stool sample before completing the test.
My stool sample is runny, too firm, or contains mucous. What should I do?
Wherever possible, please test a formed stool that is soft enough to push the sample stick into and is free from mucous. Liquid stools may dilute the calprotectin in the sample, mucous stools may inhibit the test, firm stools may by too difficult to fill the grooves of the sample collector.
What happens if I don't pick up enough stool sample with the sample stick?
There is a risk of getting a falsely low result. You should ensure that the grooves of the sample collector are filled before placing the sample collector in the sample tube. If you have placed the sample collector in the tube with insufficient sample, you will need to start again with a new sample collection tube.
What if I add too much sample to the test cassette?
There is a risk of getting a falsely elevated result. You should repeat the test.
I have spilled the sample solution, what should I do?
If you spill the sample solution before adding the stool sample to the collection tube, you will need to repeat the process using a new test because the dilution of the sample will be incorrect and could lead to erroneous results.
If you spill the sample solution after the stool sample has been added to the collection tube, and, the sample was ready to use, continue as normal if there is sufficient sample left - you must be able to apply three full drops onto the test cassette.
If in doubt, repeat the test.
Can I wait longer than 15 minutes for the test to run?
After the 15 minutes has expired, you have two minutes to scan your test. If you exceed this time the app will not allow you to scan the result due to potential error risk.
Can I wait longer than 2 minutes to scan the test after it has completed?
To avoid erroneous results you must scan the test within the 2 minute period. The app will not allow the measurement to take place after this time and the test must be repeated.
I have a new device, can I transfer my results to my new device?
Yes. Install the SmarTest Calprotectin app on your new device and log into your mySmarTest account. Your results will transfer to your new device app.
I have moved and will be under the care of a new IBD team. What are my options?
You can connect to a new Competence Centre operated by your new IBD team, and remove yourself from the old one from within the app. Go to Access mySmarTest from the home screen and then select Manage Releases to remove yourself from the old Competence Centre. You can join your new Competence Centre by selecting Release test results. Just make sure you get your new Patient Information form from your new IBD team to connect your app to their competence centre.
